I am leaning towards Audi A4 because it's what I have now, and I have really liked it. However, I think as the miles pile on, Audi cars are expensive to fix in their old age, and I don't necessarily want all the fuss and expense.
Audi A4 is not only all wheel drive but its better
hands down go for Audi a4
Subaru is a bad choice for anyone... its all hype and so called cool... Audi will never fail you and is meant for serious business not some college kid trying to show how hippie he is...
Subaru has a great AWD system. You shouldn't have problems with either. I've known people with Audi's and they had many problems during their ownership. Subaru's are more reliable in my opinion plus the parts are much cheaper. I would stay away from Audi, BMW, Mercedes, etc especially the older models.
I used to own a Subaru and will never get another one.
We had about 3-5" of snow in New Haven one day last winter, and many roads were not plowed at 6 am.
When I just started driving at 15mph on a straight flat road, one of the
front wheels was sliding to the side a bit and the rear wheels were
pushing the car in that direction. It felt almost like a RWD car.
When the road wasn't straight anymore and I was at 25mph, suddenly the
front end slid to the left, and the rear end pushed it further to other
side of the road in a direction of a huge tree... I tried to correct
but no luck; it felt like the right side wheels spinning faster then the
left. So I slammed on the brakes to avoid the tree and finally stopped
at the curb.
After missing that tree I became more careful and drove slow, but still I had to constantly correct the car every 5 seconds. I was really frustrated from the AWD.
I never had a problem with my previous Audi I used to own in snow.
I have a VW Passat. Have had no problems with it breaking down. However, I'm not sure I'll ever buy another German made car because nobody (even those who specialize in audi/ VW) seem to know how to put it back together. From simple procedures like oil changes, to really difficult ones such as my timing belt, they never can put the pieces back together. At the end it's like a Mr. Potato head, eye balls are in nose sockets. I have spent a lot of time and money on mechanics not putting my car back together properly. It has resulted in some really scary moments on the freeway. Seriously, an oil change!
